Koryu-ji temple is famous with quite beautiful Buddha statues. Most famous statue is Miroku Bosatsu Hanka Shiyui statue (Maitreya Bodhisattva sitting contemplatively in the half-lotus position). This statue is the 1st National treasure of Japan. And this statue is famous for its beautiful face. It is putted at Reihouden museum in this temple. There are about 70 statues include 20 National treasures. You should feel peaceful mind in this museum. This temple is little bit away from the center of Kyoto city, so there are not so many visitors. If you have time, I recommend to go there.
