Kamigamo Jinja shrine is one of oldest shrine in Kyoto. We call as ‘Kamosha’ both of Shimogamo Jinja shrine and Kamigamo Jinja shrine. The god of this Kamigamo Jinja is a good of thunder, and god of Shimogamo Jinja is mother of the thunder god. Old mythology told that a young princess met a thunder bolt, at that night she got a baby. So the baby was born later. So old people thought both of the mother and the son should be special, they made shrines for each, one is Kamigamo Jinja, another is Shimogamo Jinja. This shrine has a big front yard. You should feel nice there.
