Hello! Happy New Year!
I went back to parents home Mie prefecture last week, so I went to Ise jingu shrine for the first visit to shrine of the year. Ise jingu shrine is the biggest shrine in Japan. It was quite nice start of the new year for me.
Got back to Kyoto in this week, so I’m happy to be here! Kyoto is the best place to be! So I visited to Gooh jinja shrine in this morning. This Gooh shrine is the shrine of a boar. Do you know boar? The boar is an animal looks like a pig. But not pig. We Japanese have 12 symbol animals for every year, the boar is the symbol of this year 2019. You could see 2 boar statues in the picture of this page. Almost all shrines have 2 dog statues in front of, but this Gooh jinja shrine has 2 boar statues there. So many kyoto people come to here for their first visit, but almost them never come here 11 years….
