I visited to Toji temple today. There held a big ceremony “Go-sitinichi-mishiho”. This means “post 7days pray”. 1st to 7th of January are the first 7days of new year. 8th to 14th of January are the 2nd 7 days of new year, so this 2nd is the ‘post’ first 7 days.
This ceremony is the biggest one for Shingon group of Buddhism. Many high monks read mantra for seven days,day and night, for the peace of people. This ceremony is secret, people can’t see. But after 7days ceremony, we can go inside of the ceremony house “Kanjo-in temple”. So I visited there for see inside.
There were 2 big mandara pictures on both of the east wall and west wall. High level monks pray in front of them in this week. Of course we cannot take pictures inside of the ceremony house, but the end of the ceremony high level monks and 2 persons from royal family walked in old traditional style, so I put it on this blog.
There are many secrets in Kyoto. This ceremony and Kanjo-in ceremony house are the secret ones. But sometime, we can see them if we are lucky. I want to check them and put them on this blog.
