Enkouji temple is a nice temple in northern east area of Kyoto city. In this temple you can watch full bloom cherry blossoms in April, great red maple leaves in late Nov to early Dec. There is a nice bamboo forest, high land with good city view.
I visited here last Saturday with my son, there were many visitors for watching red maple leaves. Many foreign travelers want to watch bamboo forest in Arashiyama, but Bamboo forest in Arashiyama is too busy in these days. So I recommend this temple to feel the good atmosphere of bamboo. You can enjoy every aspects of nature Kyoto here.
You can go there by walk 15 minutes from Ichijoji station.
