Chion-in temple

Higashiyama (East area)
sdr

Chion-in temple is a huge size temple of Jodo sect. It established in 1175. It has a great gate, it’s the biggest wood gate in Japan. I think this place is mainly for Buddhism affair, not for sightseeing. But it is so close to the central Gion area, so it’s nice to walk around there. You can feel something with this huge wooden gate. You can go up with this stone stairs free, it’s like a mountain climbing!
